Threads of Damocles

Threads of Damocles is a multi-genre Live Roleplaying Campaign (LARP) focused on strong character development and exciting interpersonal roleplay.

The Threads of Damocles game takes place in a shattered universe, where various shards of time, place, and reality mix after a tragic event splintered the space, time continuum as we understand it in the world today. Some parts of the Threads universe represent a near historical reality, while others are purely fictional, born of ideas reflected in the chaos of destruction. The members of the Threads community emphasize roleplay and tend to de-emphasize cumbersome game mechanics.

Threads allows every participant to focus on genres and themes that are interesting to them. Threads introduces a background that allows for modular scenes. If your fascination is (for example) T'ang Dynasty China, we can spend a little time and energy recreating that time and place and letting you experience it!

The group itself is close-knit and friendly with an active outreach program to welcome new players.

Some things you can expect:
  • An excellent writing staff, producing quality enjoyable material aimed at a diverse audience.
  • New players are valued right away, and may start reasonably experienced characters equivalent to already existent player characters.
  • Real dining! Our kitchen is equipped to produce full meals at good quality. Meal prices are built into the cost of admission.
  • We are an adult game; responsible social drinking is permitted.
  • Full time cast pay $25 and can expect to receive varied "meaty" acting roles. Cast are not ignored or marginalized, but are integrated tightly into the game world.
  • Full time players pay about $85 per weekend, but those willing to do some cast or tech work pay $55.

Threads runs three events annually, generally once each in the early spring, summer, and late fall. It is currently running at "The Manse", a beautiful Edwardian manor in Hagerstown, MD.
