All Routes - From Route 143

  • Follow 143 for approx. 5.2 miles towards Kempton.
  • You should pass through several miles of countryside. You'll go about 5-6 miles, and pass Raybert's Sunoco on the right. This is your sign to SLOW DOWN…
  • You'll cross the Intersection at Rayberts. Watch for a yellow + indicating an upcoming crossroads. You will generally not be able to see it. Look for the sign, and slow a lot, then make a very sharp turn across the Stone Bridge.
  • You are now on Old Philly Pike. At the far end of the Stone Bridge turn LEFT into the village of Trexler (Albany Township Historical Society Sign). You'll go through an immediate 90 degree turn that looks about as much like a driveway as a road.
  • SLOW DOWN here as there are often kittens lying in the road. They belong to people we know, and you may need to pick them up and sit them out of the road.
  • Go over the railroad tracks and follow the road up the hill. When you crest the hill you will see a large cluster of barns to your right, a house with windows on the left.

To Park:

  • Pull into the first turn off on the right or look for signs that will direct you to park.

To Drive into Camp to unload:

  • On your left you should see dirt lane just before a small house with siding, on a cinderblock foundation. That's the Gatehouse. You can turn left there to go to the Camping and Play area.

STAY AWAY FROM THE FARMHOUSE AND DO NOT BLOCK THE DRIVEWAY!

  • If you reach a point where the road intersects another road (Kistler Valley Rd.) you have gone too far. Turn around and go back.
  • Park where directed, leaving enough room to exit and unpack. Parking is at a premium. Leave your car unlocked, seriously. The tow truck takes two/three hours to come. A dog might pee on your tires, but I promise nothing will be stolen. Cell phone coverage is spotty. **
  • Do not idle your car in Old Philly Pike. Despite our cat warnings in Trexler, this is a straight section off a bend, and people may be driving at 75+ mph, not expecting traffic. People out here drive fast, like country folks.

Alternate directions

Coming off of Route 78 Exit 36 Lenhartsville travel five miles north to Kempton.

AS you come down the hill and out of the two mountain cuts you will see a gas station on your right followed shortly by a firestation.

After the firestation make the next right hand turn and travel into Kempton proper.

You will see a post office to your left and shortly there after a school on your right. The road will come to a T-intersection. At this intersection you want to make a left hand turn, this places the grain mill (Albright's Mill) on your left and the Kempton Hotel on your right.

Continue forward, the road makes a sharp bend to the right (be careful) Immediately after this sharp bend you want to make a left hand turn and cross over the bridge. Stay to your left and go up over the huge bump in the road. (stay to your right as you do so not to hit oncoming traffic) There is a railroad tracks ontop of this bump and the Steam Train staion is to your right.

Go down this road. (The Stone bridge you were supposed to go over is on your left)

The road will turn once more to the right, cross over a set of rail road tracks go up the hill. When you are coming down the hill look for the signposts that will direct you where to park, (There is a huge barn to your right with a big red roof, that is where you park).
